CampingStayz is the creation of Sharon and Ross Howard who love camping and sharing their love of this wonderful country.
They understand that “getting away from it all” means not having to share a campsite with strangers.
CampingStayz offers exclusive private access to quality campsites at reasonable prices.
Currently the Platypus Waterhole campsite at Hartley is available and will soon be joined by other sites in the Wolgan Valley.
If you are interested in listing your own campsite on this site contact Sharon and Ross.
Location
Platypus Waterhole is two hours from Sydney and a world away from your worries.
It is located on the banks on Blackheath Creek where platypus can often be seen at dawn and dusk.
The shelter is 2km from the main homestead and is accessible only by 4WD. If you don’t have a 4WD we can arrange a shuttle.
See the map below for the exact location and directions.
Things to do
Relax, read a book or venture out to explore the historic areas of Hartley and Lithgow. You are also free to explore the surrounding property which is a working cattle station.
The two storey camping shelter has a fully enclosed sleeping platform that sleeps at least eight people. This overlooks the internal fireplace and kitchen area with sink, running water and a preparation area. A gas BBQ is also available.
A flat grassy area next to the shelter will fit at least five family sized tents, or can be used as a great play area for the kids.
.
There is hot water and an open air shower. A long drop toilet is located close to the shelter.
At night the shelter is lit by solar powered lights and the glow of the campfire.
